Jesus wept over Israel's lost condition. Paul prayed for Israel's salvation. The British commentator, C. E. B. Cranfield, adds, "In this prayer for Israel's salvation he has set an example for the church to follow. A church which failed to pray for Israel's salvation would be a church which did not know what it means to be the church of Jesus Christ."
